Justiss Elementary Earns Attendance Challenge Victory with Pie-in-the-Face Celebration

Students at Justiss Elementary ended the school year on a high note after earning the highest attendance percentage in Paris ISD during a district-wide attendance challenge.
The challenge, created by Paris ISD Superintendent Althea Dixon, encouraged students to prioritize being present at school each day. As the campus with the best attendance record, Justiss Elementary earned a unique reward—a chance to put a pie in the face of Assistant Superintendent Gary Preston.
To represent the student body, fourth-grade student and Student Council representative Landynn Williams was selected to deliver the pie. Surrounded by cheering classmates and staff members, Landynn gladly accepted the honor, creating a memorable moment for the entire campus.
The event served as a fun way to celebrate the hard work and commitment of students, families, and staff who made attendance a priority throughout the school year. Regular attendance plays a vital role in student success, helping students stay engaged in learning and connected to their school community.
“This was a great way to recognize the efforts of our students and families,” said Superintendent Althea Dixon. “When students are in school, they have more opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed. We are proud of the students at Justiss Elementary for their outstanding commitment to attendance.”
The celebration brought plenty of smiles and laughter while reinforcing an important message: every school day counts. Through challenges like this, Paris ISD continues to encourage strong attendance habits that support student achievement and success.
