Crockett Intermediate Flag Crew Leads by Example Through Daily Tradition

At Crockett Intermediate School, a special group of sixth-grade students are learning that leadership begins with responsibility, respect, and service. As members of the school's 2026–2027 Flag Crew, these students have the honor of raising and lowering the American and Texas flags each school day.
Selected by Officer Brandenburg for their character, dependability, and leadership qualities, the students take on a responsibility that goes beyond the classroom. Before beginning their duties, each member receives training on proper flag etiquette and the importance of treating both flags with dignity and respect.
Each morning, members of the Flag Crew proudly raise the flags to welcome a new school day, while other crew members carefully lower them each afternoon. Through this daily tradition, the students demonstrate the importance of teamwork, patriotism, and taking pride in their school.
"Serving on the Flag Crew is an honor, but it also comes with great responsibility," said Officer Brandenburg. "These students understand that they have been entrusted with something important, and I'm proud of the respect and dedication they show each day."
While raising and lowering the flags may seem like a small part of the school day, these young Wildcats are proving that leadership is often demonstrated through simple acts of service and a commitment to doing what is right.
Paris ISD is proud of these students for representing Crockett Intermediate with pride and setting a positive example for their fellow Wildcats.
