Paris ISD Students Celebrate Dyslexia Awareness Month with Special Experience at Region 8

In recognition of October as Dyslexia Awareness Month, six Paris Independent School District students recently participated in a special Dyslexia Awareness Conference and interactive learning experience hosted by Region 8 Education Service Center.
The event brought students and educators together for a unique opportunity to celebrate reading, build confidence, and promote a greater understanding of dyslexia. Region 8 staff members helped bring the experience to life by serving as readers and portraying characters throughout the activities, creating an engaging and memorable experience for students.
Paris ISD students attending the event were Caiden Giles, Braxton Wisener, Miles Cass, Londyn Bellamy, Noelia Sanchez, and Emily Till.
Accompanying the students were Paris ISD staff members Dandria Mason, Amy Watson, Marsha Oates, and Dr. Brad Duncan, who joined in supporting the students throughout the experience.
October is recognized nationally as Dyslexia Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing understanding of dyslexia, recognizing the strengths of individuals who learn differently, and emphasizing the importance of providing students with the tools and support they need to succeed.
Dyslexia is a learning difference that primarily affects reading and spelling, but it does not define a student's intelligence, creativity, or potential. With appropriate instruction, encouragement, and support, students with dyslexia can thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Paris ISD is committed to helping every student recognize their strengths, overcome challenges, and develop confidence in their abilities.
The district extends its appreciation to Region 8 Education Service Center for organizing this special event and providing students with an opportunity to celebrate their unique abilities while making meaningful connections.
