The accolades did not stop there. Following the contest, Paris High School received exciting news from the University Interscholastic League (UIL): Kaitlyn Hellmann was selected as an Outstanding Performer at the 2026 Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest.
According to UIL, approximately 100,000 students participate in regional UIL music contests each year, with thousands advancing to the state competition. Only 2–3 percent of solo performances earn the distinguished Outstanding Performer recognition, making the honor one of the highest achievements available to student musicians in Texas.
As an Outstanding Performer, Hellmann received a draped gold medal, the same prestigious award presented to state champions in UIL events across Texas.
"This achievement is truly a mark of musical excellence," UIL stated in its congratulatory letter. "Awards of this nature do not come easily and reflect the efforts of many individuals including parents, school directors, and private teachers."
Paris High School also recognizes the contributions of Hellmann's private voice instructor, Alaina Downing, Grant Taylor vocal coach for PHS, and accompanist Leann Barbee, whose support and expertise played an important role in her success.
The accomplishments of these students reflect the strength of the Paris High School Choir program, and the dedication of its students, directors, and supporters. Paris ISD congratulates all of the performers for representing Wildcat Nation with excellence at the state level.
