Paris ISD Counselor Named Texas Rural Education Association Counselor of the Year

Paris Independent School District is proud to announce that Andrea Irwin has been named the 2026 Counselor of the Year by the Texas Rural Education Association (TREA).
The honor was announced as part of TREA’s 2026 “Of the Year” Awards, which recognize outstanding individuals and school districts making a lasting impact on rural education across Texas. This year marked a record-breaking number of nominations from across the state, making the recognition even more meaningful.
This year also marked the inaugural year for the Counselor of the Year category, created by TREA to recognize the vital role counselors play in supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally.
“Mrs. Irwin’s dedication to students and families is evident in everything she does,” said Paris ISD Superintendent Althea Dixon. “She works tirelessly to ensure students feel supported, encouraged, and prepared for success both inside and outside the classroom. We are incredibly proud to see her recognized at the state level.”
Andrea Irwin will be honored during the TREA “Of the Year” Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, June 16, during the TREA Annual Conference at the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center in Round Rock.
Paris ISD congratulates Mrs. Irwin on this outstanding achievement and thanks her for the positive difference she continues to make in the lives of Wildcat students every day.
