Hot Air Balloon Launch Inspires Students to “Dare to Dream” at PJH

Paris Junior High School kicked off its Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department’s 2025–2026 celebration in grand fashion on Wednesday, September 10, with a breathtaking hot air balloon launch.
PJH principal Kristi Callihan and Instructional Coach Seanda Gilbert led the event, ascending into the sky as students counted down in unison from ten. The launch highlighted Mrs. Crain’s “Dare to Dream” theme for the Hospitality & Tourism program, encouraging students to set high goals and pursue their passions.
The balloon was prepared by Paris natives Amie and Josh Cato, experienced balloonists who, along with volunteers, gave students an up-close look at the fascinating process of inflating and launching a hot air balloon. As the balloon rose into the crisp morning air, students were left inspired by the larger-than-life demonstration of dreaming big.
All CTE instructors joined in the celebration, including Mrs. Esch (Health Science), Mrs. Malone (Media), Mrs. Crain (Hospitality & Tourism), and Mrs. Hunt (Agriculture). Together, the team created a memorable experience that set an uplifting tone for the new academic year.
