Aikin Elementary School participates in mentoring program

Aikin Elementary is participating in the 1 Paris Mentoring program, created by the Northeast Conference of the United Methodist Church. Students are paired with an adult mentor for 30 minutes each week. Mentors do activities, read with the student, or assist in any way the teacher needs.

Aikin first grader Alijah Hood and his mentor, Jed Irwin, recently carved a pumpkin together.

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.
