Charging/Collecting

The Paris ISD campuses determine the limit a student will be allowed to charge.  The limits at this time are:

Elementary – $15.00 - After a student reaches the limit, the principal may allow additional charges or foodservice director may extend the charges if the parent makes a request to charge until an agreed upon date when all charges will be paid.  Negative balance notices will be given to the homeroom teacher to send home in the student take-home folder.  When the elementary student reaches the charge limit, an attempt will be made to reach the parent before an alternate lunch is offered.

Intermediate – 4 meal charges - After a student reaches the limit, the principal may allow additional charges or foodservice director may extend the charges if the parent makes a request to charge until an agreed upon date when all charges will be paid.  Negative balance notices will be given to the homeroom teacher to send home in the student take-home folder.  When the elementary student reaches the charge limit, an attempt will be made to reach the parent before an alternate lunch is offered.

Junior High – 2 meal charges - After a student reaches the limit, the principal may allow additional charges or foodservice director may extend the charges if the parent makes a request to charge until an agreed upon date when all charges will be paid.  The student will periodically be given a negative balance notice until the charge is paid.  If the student attempts to charge a third meal before the charge is paid an alternate meal will be offered.

High School – no charging - The principal may allow the student to charge or foodservice director may extend the charges if the parent makes a request to charge until an agreed upon date when all charges will be paid.  Without approval to charge, the student will be offered an alternate meal.

Employees are allowed to charge on a limited basis for up to one month. Employees with outstanding accounts must pay their balance by the end of each month.

Returned checks – Checks returned by the bank to the school food service account will be credited back to the account in which the check was deposited with an additional $2.00 fee.  An attempt will be made by the food service director to contact the parent/employee informing them of the returned check.  If contact cannot be made, a letter will be mailed to the home address listed on the student’s school record.  No other checks will be accepted until the returned check and fee are repaid in cash.

Inactive Accounts with Positive Balances

A student who leaves the district may request a refund of a positive balance up to $19.99 at the time of withdrawal or with a positive balance in excess of $20 may request a refund by check within 30 days of withdrawing or graduating.

Applying for Meal Benefits

A parent or adult member of a household may apply or re-apply for meal benefits for Paris ISD students within the household at any time during the school year.

  • If the household income decreases or the number of household members increase, the family may apply or re-apply.  Changes for increased benefits from a “denied or reduced” status must provide documentation.
  • If the application was selected for verification and the requested documentation is not provided during the verification time period, meal benefits will be denied until documentation is provided.  New applications cannot be processed until verification has been completed.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
