Eiffel Tower blue lights show support for Lamar County Teachers

Thank a teacher by lighting homes and/or offices with blue lights.

Paris, Texas, October 6, 2020 – If there ever was a year to show appreciation for teachers, it is 2020!  Monday, October 5 is World Teachers’ Day and Lamar County schools are joining others around the world by showing their support for teachers.  This week blue lights will shine on the Eiffel Tower at Love Civic Center as a reminder that “Teachers Light the Way.”

World Teachers’ Day is an opportunity to celebrate the teaching profession worldwide, take stock of achievements and draw attention to the voices of teachers – who are at the heart of efforts to attain the global education target of leaving no one behind.

Lamar County teachers have always answered the call and accepted the challenge.   Last spring teachers began adapting to new ways of working as the COVID-19 pandemic changed their methods of teaching.  While staying optimistic, they began using Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, chat, text email and phone calls to educate students.  Now these super-educators are teaching both in-person and at-home learners.

The Lamar County schools are proud of the teachers who educate their students.  Community members are asked to join by showing their support for Lamar County teachers by lighting up their own homes and/or businesses with blue lights or ribbons this week.

Those who can inspire a life-long love of learning, teach.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
