Paris native D.J. Bulls returned to Paris and worked with the choirs at Paris High School yesterday.
Bulls is the artistic director and conductor of the MidCities Chamber Singers who will perform a concert on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Church of the Holy Cross, 400 South Church Street, at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $5 each and are available at the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, 8 W. Plaza, and at Kwik Kopy Printing, 2330 Lamar Avenue.
Bulls has studied at Abilene Christian University, the University of North Texas, the University of Texas-Arlington and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he has become one of the most respected voices in the Southwest in the areas of American Restoration Hymnody and in choral technique.
In the course of his study he has conducted with and sung under the baton of some of the world’s most respected conductors such as Jerry McCoy, Donald Bailey, Karen Kenaston-French, David Thye, Henry Gibbons, Simon Carrington, Craig Hella Johnson, Bruce Browne, and Robert Sund, among others. He has served as a Baritone soloist with Schola Cantorum of Ft. Worth and the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Master Chorale, both in concert with the Ft. Worth Symphony. Bulls is a respected arranger, composer and church musician as well, having worked with choirs and churches across the country.
