Justiss Elementary wins top prize in region academic competition

For twenty-nine days in February, 3954 schools and 602,081 students competed in the Lonestar Math Cup Regional Competition. After over 1 million hours, 3.5 million lessons completed, and 102 million math problems solved, the fourth annual Texas Lonestar Math Cup Regional Competition came to a close.

Justiss Elementary School is the 2016 Texas Lonestar Math Cup Regional Champion for Region 8. Students competed in the computer-based competition and solved 40,805 problems in over 34 math hours and earned 652,329 THINK points to accomplish the win. Students participated at school, during after school programs, and at home.

The contest is sponsored by Think Through Math (TTM) as part of the Texas SUCCESS program. TTM representative Sarah Schapansky hosted an award assembly and presented Justiss with a $100 Walmart gift card, a Lonestar Math Cup Top Region Banner to hang in the school, and Lonestar Math Cup Certificates for top performing students: Quincy Johnson passed 66, Jacinto Ramirez passed 52, and Jayden Solomon passed 44.  The homeroom classes of Maranda Mahon and Josefina Peralta were recognized for having the most points.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
