Paris High choir students competed in the UIL Choir Solo & Ensemble Contest and all 27 students earned either a “superior” or an “excellent rating.” Choir director Jan Blize attributed the success to “each practice group designed their own weekly practice goals.” She added, “At the beginning of each week, we would assess where we were and what we needed to practice in order to accomplish that week’s goal.” Students who didn’t go to contest participated in the same solo preparation process and did a remarkable job of meeting weekly preparation goals. Dottie Billman and Lindsay McCarter assisted in preparing the students for contest.
Seven students earned an “excellent” rating on their solo: Adrianna Bond, Skyler Bryan, Quin Dangerfield, Morgan Dudley-Pullins, Jasmine Matlock, Ashjwanae Mickens, and Sarah Starkey.
Three students won a bronze medal for earning a "superior" rating on a beginning level solo: Breanna Crutchfield, Crystal May, and Kaleha Rollerson.
Five students won a silver medal for earning a "superior" rating on an intermediate level solo: Cameron DeLoach, Hope Dixon, Tahirah Howard, Abby Long, and Alix Rawls.
Twelve students won a gold medal for earning a "superior" rating on an advanced level solo and qualified for UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest to be held on June 1st-3rd: Cici Avalos, Rowan Burns, Arianna Epperson, Nick Leija II, Destiny Millard, Jared Posey, Angela Ramirez, Nicholas Reed, Ben Ruthart, Rhea Tabora, Hailey Woolsey, and Brian Wright.
