Paris High School students cast their ballots

Students from Paris High School voted for the first time Thursday, Feb. 25 at the Lamar County Courthouse Annex. They participated in early voting before the March 1 elections.

The U.S. Government classes of Cheryl Brown, Tracey Roden, Lonnie Norton and Randall Lewis were taught how to take part in elections.

Brown said she didn’t want her students intimidated by the process. "We have been giving our seniors unbiased information on how elections take place, how to read a ballot, and what to expect the first time you vote.”

She added how important it is for students to be informative voters.  “These students are our future leaders, decision makers and participants in our country.  They need to be educated in the importance of being life long voters.”

1st row: Mary Cobb, Tierra Yates, DaQuavious Council;

2nd row: Tarshala Fisher, Zarreia Jones, Summer James, Ty Gray, Jacob Owen;

3rd row: Katie Watson, Ryan Callaway, Jefferey White, Bridger Gottshalk, D.J. Samuels, Quez Allen, Graham Weatherford, Adilih Calderon

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
