Paris High School Teachers Named Educators of the Year by RRV Down Syndrome Society

Elizabeth Brannen and Kimberly McClure, teachers at Paris High School, recently received Educator of the Year Awards from the Red River Valley Down Syndrome Society. Experience, educational, professional and community involvement, and teaching philosophy are the criteria considered for the award.

A few comments in the nomination included, “These ladies work tirelessly to ensure students become contributing members of society. Students who have a love for animals have been set up with a job at a veterinary clinic. Last year, they used their contacts and got my son a summer job at a retail store. One of these ladies personally picked my son up two days each week during her summer break and accompanied him as his work coach. Since school began, they ensure he is transported with a coach to continue his job.”

Steele Vaughan, one of the teachers’ students, assisted with the presentation of the award at the annual Snowflakes & Diamonds Gala on January 12.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
