Twenty-Four Paris High School Students Receive AP Scholar Awards

Paris High School students from the classes of 2018 and 2019 earned 24 AP Scholar Awards on the exams they took in May.

One member of the Class of 2019 received an award. Since the results are from the 2017-2018 academic year, they include 23 AP Scholars who are members of the Class of 2018 and graduated in June.

One student earned an AP Scholar with Distinction Award which is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or high-er on five or more of these exams. Reagan Stone, Class of 2018, achieved an average score of 4.40.

Eight students received the AP Scholar with Honor Award. This award is granted to stu-dents who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. They are Graham Bain, Reagan Benson, Zachary De la Garza, William Elliott, Anna Floyd, Elizabeth Frazier, Lucas Grossnickle, and Zain Syed. These students from the Class of 2018 achieved an average score of 3.40.

Fifteen students received the AP Scholar Award. This award is granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more exams. They are Gabe Allen, Sarah Bloodworth, Erica Cole, Roniesha Davis, Keshauwn Ellis, Hannah England, Jake Freelen, Andria Gentry, Meghan Lamberson, Lilly Lewis, Kira McFadden, Brenden Napier, Miracle Valenzuela, Garrett Wilson, and Maria Yepiz. These students achieved an average score of 2.95.

Eight of the honorees from the Class of 2018 were recognized by the College Board for the second time. Reagan Benson, Zachary De la Garza, William Elliott, Elizabeth Frazier, Lucas Grossnickle, Reagan Stone, Zain Syed, and Garrett Wilson received the AP Scholar Award a year ago.

The College Board’s AP program offers students the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while in high school and to receive college credit or advanced placement for successful performance on the AP exams. Paris High School currently offers seven AP courses -– AP Chemistry, AP Calculus, AP English Language & Composition, AP English Literature & Composition, AP Span-ish, AP U.S. Government, and AP U.S. History.
