For the fourth year in a row, Paris High School’s Automotive Technology class will represent Texas at the SkillsUSA National Conference. PHS Senior Maria Gonzalez earned a silver medal in Marine Service Technology at the state SkillsUSA Conference and advances to the national competition June 25-29 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Grace Hamm earned a bronze medal in Photography for the second year in a row. Ivoree Hickson earned a Ribbon of Excellence in Commercial Photography Portrait. In employability, Gabriel Remsburg earned silver and Alyssa Gilmore and Nathaniel Anderson each earned bronze medals.
Paris Junior High School eight graders Theodore Hubbard and Braeden Tabangcora earned silver medals in Robotics—Urban Search and Rescue.
Paris High School also earned a gold medal in SkillsUSA’s Chapter of Excellence Program. This medal was earned by only eight high school chapters in Texas. The Chapter of Excellence Program recognizes achievement as it relates to the integration of the SkillsUSA Framework in chapter program of work activities. As a chapter’s yearly action plan, the program of work is at the heart of student learning and employability development. By using the Framework as a guide, chapters have a blueprint for creating relevant activities that encourage participation and foster an understanding of student learning attained during each activity. The Framework’s focus on intentional learning turns the program of work into more than just a planning tool. Using the Framework, the program of work becomes the vital conduit that links students to the application of personal, workplace and technical skills demanded by industry.
