PHS SkillsUSA team captures awards at district competition

The SkillsUSA team from Paris High School’s Career & Technology Education Department recently brought home 17 gold, silver and bronze medals and one blue ribbon from the SkillsUSA District 5 competition at TSTC Waco. The students competed in 16 different contests as individuals and teams.

In the Diesel Service Technology competition, Mason Ragsdale won first place. Maria Gonzalez won first place for the second year in a row in Marine Service Technology. Quinn Andrews won second in Motorcycle Service Technology. Second place was taken by Wesley Wilson and third place by Britten Gordon in Power Equipment Technology. Ceaira Gill won first place in Health Occupations Professional Portfolio. Shyann Parker captured first place in Medical Assisting. Robbie Parker placed first in Nurse Assisting and Alex Hernandez placed third. Natan Rodriegez placed first in Dental Assisting and first in Basic Health Care Skills. In Photography, Grace Hamm placed first and Marjorie Caulderon placed second.  Ivoree Hickson won the blue ribbon in Commercial Photography—portrait. Alex Rodriguez won first place in CNC Milling Technology. Gabriel Remsburg, Alyssa Gilmore and Nathan Anderson won second place in Engineering Related Design.  The team of Beau Brazeal, Alyssa Gilmore, Corbin Martin, and Nathan Anderson won third place in Applied Engineering.  Lucas Harrison won second place in Job Interview and Quinn Andrews won second place in Related Technical Math. Nichole Hawkes was elected as one of seven District 5 officers.

Students who placed first and second advance to the SkillsUSA State Competition to be held April 5-8 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
