Coding is cool at Paris High School. Teachers and students have joined the national push called “Hour of Code.” This push is for all students to learn coding or computer programming. All Paris High School students in Principles of Technology, Robotics, and Physics are participating with students at 155,000 events around the world.
According to Dr. Angela Chadwick, Director of Career & Technology Education and Secondary Education, “The goal of the Hour of Code is to show students that computer science is fun and it is creative.” Paris High School teachers and students have gone beyond one hour and many students have decided to enroll in a course as a result.
Chadwick added, “Above all, what all participants can learn in an hour is that we can do this. And while they are doing this they are learning new problem-solving skills, logic, and creativity.”
