Kiwanis International and the Kiwanis Club of Paris focus on changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time. International celebrates 100 years of service this year and the Club is celebrating 70 years of community service in Paris and Lamar County since 1945.
The Club sponsors a food drive each year to help families in need in Paris and Lamar County. The delivery of Christmas food baskets is just one example of the ways money raised during Kiwanis Pancake Days is returned to the community.
Superintendents of Paris ISD and North Lamar ISD, Paul Jones and John McCullough, joined forces in a competitive food drive to aid the efforts of the Club. The Can the Panthers, Can the Wildcats Food Drive generated over 875 food boxes. Families in need access the food through the Salvation Army.
Each district received $250 from the Club to help children in need during the holiday season. Making the check presentation to Jones is Kiwanis Club President Don Dickerson and Robert High, Community Services Committee Co-chair. Co-chair Rudy Kessel was not photographed.
