The SkillsUSA team from Paris High School’s Career & Technology Education Department recently showcased their talents at the SkillsUSA District 5 competition held at TSTC Waco. The team achieved significant success, bringing home several medals in various individual and team contests. This accomplishment not only reflects their dedication but also opens doors for further opportunities at the state and potentially national levels of competition.
The Photography team members excelled in their categories, earning high distinctions and advancing to the state-level competition. Their achievements are as follows:
• Zury Luna: Advanced to state with a Superior rating on the Photography Job Exhibit.
• Tatianna Coleman: Advanced to state with a Superior rating on the Photography Job Exhibit.
• Isabella Brockman: Secured 2nd place and advanced to the State Photography Competition, also achieving a Superior rating on the Photography Job Exhibit.
• Will Fraser: Secured 3rd place and advanced to the State Photography Competition, along with a Superior rating on the Photography Job Exhibit.
• Lindsey Holleman: Secured 1st place and advanced to the State Photography Competition, also achieving a Superior rating on the Photography Job Exhibit.
In the Automotive competition, Paris High School students demonstrated their expertise and secured commendable positions, with each advancing to the state competition:
• Aaron Crumpler: Achieved 3rd place in Automotive Maintenance and Repair.
• Ramon Gonzalez: Achieved 3rd place in Automotive Tool ID.
• Jose De la Cruz Garcia: Achieved 4th place in Automotive Tool ID.
By achieving top scores at the district level, these talented students have earned the chance to compete at the state level, where they will face more challenging contests and demonstrate their skills against the best students from other districts. The state competition will be held in Corpus Christie from April 1-5, 2025. Success at the state competition could pave the way to the national SkillsUSA Championships, providing an opportunity for students to showcase their abilities on a larger stage and gain recognition for their skills and creativity.
