The first graders at Justiss Elementary recently hosted their much-anticipated annual performance. This year's theme was particularly meaningful as it paid tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The event featured a series of heartfelt musical performances that the audience could relate to. The children sang “We are the Children,” a song celebrating unity and hope, reminding everyone of the power of coming together. The performance of “This Little Light” brought a joyful and uplifting spirit to the room, encouraging listeners to shine brightly and spread kindness. Adding a modern twist, the students also performed “Dr. King Rap,” engaging everyone with its rhythmic homage to Dr. King's enduring impact.
In addition to the musical numbers, multiple students took turns sharing stories about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life and achievements. These narratives highlighted his dedication to civil rights, equality, and peaceful protest.
A standout moment was when Karter Smith delivered a powerful rendition of the iconic “I Have A Dream” speech. Karter's performance captured the essence of Dr. King's vision for a world of justice and equality, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
The Justiss 1st graders' performance not only showcased their talents but also served as a reminder of Dr. King's enduring message of peace and unity. The event was a fitting tribute to a leader whose dreams continue to inspire future generations.
