Paris ISD Leader Named Region 8 Assistant Principal of the Year

Lalonna West, Assistant Principal of Aikin Elementary in Paris ISD, has been named the 2025 Region 8 Assistant Principal of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA). The peer-based award celebrates assistant principals from the 20 TEPSA Regions across the state who demonstrate exceptional leadership in fostering a culture of excellence for students and teachers on their PK-8 campus.

“Lalonna has played a pivotal role in creating a supportive and dynamic learning environment in her school community. We are proud to recognize Lalonna’s leadership and dedication to ensuring students are engaged, and achieve success throughout their education,” said TEPSA Executive Director Harley Eckhart.

One TEPSA Region AP of the Year will be selected as the 2025 NAESP National Assistant Principal of the Year for Texas. Supported by Horace Mann, the national award recognizes leaders who are committed to excellence through programs designed to meet the academic and social needs of all students; have firmly established community ties with parents and local business organizations; show strong educational leadership by setting high expectations for school staff and students; and exhibit exceptional leadership in a particular school program.

TEPSA, whose hallmark is educational leaders learning with and from each other, has served Texas PK-8 school leaders since 1917. Member-owned and member-governed, TEPSA has more than 5,900 members who direct the activities of more than 3 million PreK-8 school children. Learn more at www.tepsa.org.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.
