Paris ISD receives Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant

Governor Greg Abbott announced that over $15 million in career training grants have been awarded to Texas higher education institutions, independent school districts (ISD), and charter schools through the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant program. Administered by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), the JET grant program helps educational institutions create and expand career and technical education (CTE) programs.

The Paris ISD CTE program was awarded $349,362 from this grant which has been dedicated to enhancing the educational experiences of students and better preparing them for future careers in healthcare. The grant has enabled the purchase of cutting-edge equipment that mirrors the tools and technology used in professional healthcare settings. The following items have been added to the program:
•    Two anatomage tables with tablets. These advanced 3D anatomy visualization systems provide an interactive learning experience, allowing students to explore the human body in a detailed and immersive way.
•    Nursing Anne Geriatric Simulator manikin. This high-fidelity simulator helps students practice and develop nursing skills, focusing on the care of older adults.
•    Two six-pack AED trainer bundles. These are essential for teaching students how to respond to cardiac emergencies with automated external defibrillators.
•    Seven CPR training manikins (family packs). These are crucial for students to learn and practice life-saving CPR techniques effectively.
•    Three hospital beds. Providing a realistic environment for students to develop skills in patient care and hospital protocols.
•    Three ECG Machines. These allow students to learn about electrocardiogram technology and the interpretation of heart rhythms, a critical aspect of diagnosing and monitoring cardiac conditions.

This is Paris ISD’s second time to receive this grant. “We have received 100% of the equipment ordered through this grant and are utilizing them at Paris Junior High and Paris High School with our health science students,” stated Kelly Stapleton, Career and Technology Education Director. “This investment ensures that students have access to modern and relevant tools, preparing them for future careers in the health sciences and beyond.”

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
