The Elks Lodge Host a Christmas Party for Students with Special Needs

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and inclusivity, the Paris ISD Special Services staff collaborated with the Elks Lodge and generous local businesses to host a memorable party for all area schools for students with special needs. This event not only celebrated the students but also highlighted the power of community support and the importance of creating inclusive environments.
The party was designed to provide students with special needs an opportunity to enjoy a day of fun and laughter in a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. Held at the Elks Lodge, the venue was transformed into a vibrant and festive space, complete with decorations, music, and various engaging activities tailored to accommodate the needs and interests of all attendees.

Through donations, each student (approximately 140) was able to receive a teddy bear, coloring book, and crayons.  Students were able to take a picture with Santa and visit with the Grinch and Buddy the Elf.  They were able to sing and dance on the stage to Christmas music and enjoyed a pizza lunch along with a Christmas treat.

“The party would not have been possible without the help of the Elks Lodge and the numerous donations from our community.” Stated Paris ISD Special Service Director D’Anna Graham.  “Our goal was to provide a safe place for our students to see Santa with people who would be there to support them.  Santa was patient with each student and understood their unique needs.  We hope this event will be an annual tradition for the students of Lamar County.”

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.
