Aikin Elementary Students Participate in Mock Election

Today, the 3rd and 4th grade students at Aikin Elementary had the opportunity to participate in a mock election, casting their votes for the President of the United States. This exciting event was orchestrated by Vickie England, the school's Reading Coach, who transformed into Uncle Sam to guide the young voters through the election process.

To make the experience both educational and engaging, Vickie England created a kid-friendly environment where students learned about the importance of voting. Dressed as Uncle Sam, she explained the voting process in an accessible and entertaining way, ensuring that the students understood how elections work in the real world.

Students participated in the mock election by filling out their ballots, mirroring the process that adult voters follow. They then placed their completed ballots into a ballot box, experiencing firsthand the feeling of contributing to a democratic process. After casting their votes, the students proudly wore their "Future Voter" stickers, symbolizing their participation in the campus election.

Overall, the mock election at Aikin Elementary was a successful educational exercise that not only introduced students to the voting process but also encouraged them to become informed and engaged citizens.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
