Paris ISD starting Paris Promise - Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee (SSAC)

Paris ISD Superintendent Althea Dixon has launched an innovative initiative aimed at fostering direct communication between students and district leadership. This initiative, known as the Paris Promise - Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee (SSAC), consists of secondary school students who will meet with Mrs. Dixon around six times throughout the school year.

Mrs. Dixon expressed, “I created this student advisory group because I am interested in having the opportunity to hear the perspective of Paris ISD students on various topics.  I hope that, during these meetings, the students, myself, and other school district administrators will have positive discussions about student concerns and essential issues facing our schools and district.”

Students for the Paris Promise team were recommended by the administrators of Paris Junior High and Paris High School. These selected students will engage in informal lunchtime meetings with Mrs. Dixon, providing a relaxed yet productive atmosphere for dialogue. The first meeting of the SSAC was recently held at Paris High School during lunch, marking the beginning of this promising venture. The initial gathering was designed to introduce members to one another and to lay the groundwork for the committee’s activities in the 2024-2025 school year.

By establishing the Paris Promise - Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee, Superintendent Althea Dixon is taking a significant step towards involving students in the decision-making processes that impact their educational experiences.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
