Lamar County Head Start walks a mile with Parents

Lamar County Head Start conducted a parent workshop on the importance of staying healthy. The workshop highlighted several key strategies for integrating physical activity into daily routines. Nurse Reyna Abarca emphasized the importance of choosing activities that parents enjoy, making it easier to maintain a regular exercise schedule. She suggested simple exercises such as brisk walking at home as an effective way to ensure they reach the recommended 150 minutes of activity each week. She also gave tips on how to prepare for a walk by wearing the right shoes and clothing.

To cap off the workshop, the participants embraced the opportunity to put theory into practice by taking a one-mile walk around the campus. This activity not only fostered community spirit but also served as a reminder of the simplicity and accessibility of integrating exercise into daily routines. The parents left the event feeling empowered and motivated to continue their journey toward a healthier lifestyle, confident in their ability to make small but significant changes that benefit the entire family.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.
