PHS TAFE Students Advance to State

Paris High School students have made it to the state finals of the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) after qualifying in the Area 6 contest held in Texarkana. The competition saw outstanding performances from the students who are now preparing for the State contest, which is scheduled to take place from February 28 – March 1. The PHS chapter sponsor, Tessa Snowton, has expressed pride in the hard work and dedication demonstrated by her students. It is no small feat to make it to the state finals, and the students and their mentor should be commended for their efforts. The competition is a great opportunity for students to showcase their talents and passion for education.

State qualifiers are:
•    Public Speaking: Hannah Cunningham and Ma’Leayah Couts
•    Interactive Bulletin Board: Sara Amos
•    Pre-k Children’s Literature: Madison Mann
•    K-3 Children’s Literature: Stephany Guiterrez-Hernandez and Jasmyn Pruner

According to the TAFE website, “The Texas Association of Future Educators is a co-curricular statewide non-profit (501 c3) student organization created to allow young men and women an opportunity to explore the teaching profession. The organization was created in 1984 to provide the best and brightest high school and middle school students in Texas with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions about pursuing careers in education.”

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
