Paris High School bowlers compete with Cross-Town Friends

Students from Paris High School and North Lamar High School competed yesterday in the Special Olympics Texas: Greater Dallas Area Bowling Competition at USA Bowl in Dallas.  This is an area-wide competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities. This is the largest competition in the Greater Dallas Area serving approximately 3,000 bowlers.

Photographed in top are student athletes. According to Special Education teacher Liz Brannen, “These Special Olympic athletes enjoyed the friendly competition with their Cross-Town friends, won medals, and celebrated together at lunch afterwards.”

In addition, Paris High Key Club members were Special Olympic Key Volunteers at the Competition and each directed eight athletes from multiple schools.  They insured the athletes bowled on the proper lanes during league style bowling, monitored behaviors, encouraged athletes to do their best and conducted scoring completions of each game.

Special Olympic Key Volunteers photographed at bottom from left are Codi Clark, Kendra Thomas, Alexus Owens, Sloan Clay, Katy Chaix, Mallory Shoemake, Ryan Callaway, Wyndon Johnson, and Anna Grace Thrasher.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
