Paris ISD earns distinctions for excelling in accountability ratings

Paris Independent School District met the standard in the Texas Education Agency (TEA) testing and accountability ratings for 2015.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is responsible for assessing public school students, as well as determin-ing school and district accountability ratings. Under the new standard, now in its third year, districts and cam-puses fall under the rating of "met standard" or "improvement required," or "met alternative standard" for some alternative and charter schools.

Campuses that have a rating of Met Standard are eligible for Distinction Designations for outstanding achievement in academic areas. Distinction Designations compare campus performance to the performance of forty similar campuses - if campus performance is at the same level as the top 10 campuses in their compari-son group, then the campus earns a distinction. Distinction are available for academic achievement in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Student Progress, Closing Performance Gaps; and Postsecondary Readiness.

Every eligible campus in Paris ISD earned distinction designations for a district total of seventeen. Paris High School earned five distinctions, Paris Junior High earned three distinctions, Crockett received a perfect five out of a possible five distinctions, Justiss earned three distinctions and Aikin earned one distinction. Travis High School of Choice, Lamar County Head Start, Givens Early Childhood Center, and Paris DAEP are not assessed or rated.

"I am very proud that the hard work of our staff and students has been recognized,” said Superintendent Paul Jones. “These distinctions are a reflection of the dedicated, hardworking teachers, staff, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, maintenance workers and all who strive daily to make PISD a safe and positive environment for learning and teaching. We appreciate the support of our school board, families and our community who have all played a vital role in PISD's success,” Jones said.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
