Paris ISD Lamar Soil and Water Conservation District poster and essay contest winners 

Paris ISD students recently received checks for winning entries in the annual Lamar County Soil and Water Conservation District (LSWCD) Poster and Essay Contest. All winning essays and posters have been submitted for judging at the regional level. 

In the essay contest, Paris High School senior Blake Walker won 2nd place in the ages 14 to 18 division and received $80. Crockett Intermediate School sixth-grader Nathan Darst and fifth-grader Anniston Bray won 1st and 2nd places, respectively, in the 13 and under division and received $80 and $50. 

In the poster contest, Justiss fourth-graders Monserrat Garcia, Samantha Deleon, and Nahomy Duenez Netro won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, respectively, in the 4th – 6th-grade contest and received $80, $50, and $30. In the Kindergarten-3rd-grade contest, Aikin second-grader Elizabeth Gillem placed 1st, Justiss third-graders Kinsley Jones and Oliver Estrada placed 2nd and 3rd. Gillem received $50, Jones received $30, and Estrada received $20. This year’s essay and poster theme was “May the Forest Be With You, Always.”
