Paris ISD Future Problem Solving coaches and teams earned international recognition at the FPS International Conference held June 1—5 at Michigan State University. They won three first place awards, two second place awards, one third place award, and one fifth place award. They are coached by Debb Fleming, Sandra Strom, Dr. Janet Dickey, Kathy Peterson, Kathryn Jones, and Angie Black.
The Community Problem Solving Team Project SMILE won first place in the Senior Division. The project was represented by Allyssa Standifer and Grace Perry.
Ava Lassiter won first place in the junior division of Individual Community Problem Solving for Project Heart 2 Heart.
Davis Green was a member of the first place scenario writing team in the junior division and Mikaila Rogers was a member of the third place scenario writing team in the middle division. Hana Syed won 5th place in the junior division of Individual Scenario Writing. Davis Green won second place in Individual Scenario Performance in the junior division.
In the senior division, Lucas Grossnickle was member of the second place team in the Multiple-Affiliate Global Issues Competition (MAGIC).
Coaches Sandra Strom and Debb Fleming were presented the prestigious Keith Frampton Memorial Award for Outstanding Coaching in appreciation for endless work and unselfish dedication to the ideals of the Future Problem Solving Program International.
Paris ISD students have claimed 59 state championships and 20 international championships since the district began participating in Future Problem Solving in 1985.
More than 2,000 students participated in the 42nd FPS International Conference representing Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States.
