The Lamar County Historical Commission presented Debb Fleming the 2015 Lamar County History Maker Award Thursday evening. Fleming is the Socrates teacher in the Gifted and Talented Program at Crockett Intermediate School and gave credit for her win to her students.
“I am honored to be selected for The 2015 History Maker of the Year, but the award really belongs to my students who have worked so hard over the years on community service projects to make Paris a better place to live.
“I appreciate the parents, community leaders such as Judge Superville, and the Paris ISD administration who enable us to perform these community service projects.
“We are thankful for the tireless work of the Lamar County Historical Society to preserve Lamar County's history and we are fortunate to have their guidance and support with this year’s Project SMILE—a true community project as we are working with many groups to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Great Fire of 1916.”
