Veterans were in the schools on Wednesday for activities that celebrated Veterans Day. Visiting schools and talking with students about their experiences is an annual event for area veterans. Organizers of the events on Wednesday said meeting with students is important and a way to remind them of veterans' contributions.
"They have made significant sacrifices so you can have the opportunity of living and growing up in this fine community," Crockett Principal Brock Blassingame told Crockett students during morning announcements. Veterans visited individual classes to talk with students about their experiences.
Debb Fleming, Brody Holleman and Carter Benson share the history of Veteran's Day during announcements.
James Walker, retired Army Specialist and Jennifer Cone's father, spoke with Cone's class about his time in the Army.
John Carlile spoke with Anita Dake and Beth Worthey's Social Studies Classes about his time as a helicopter pilot.
