Paris High School Student to represent Texas on National Level at SkillsUSA

Three Paris High School students earned top prizes at the Texas SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference, with one student earning a spot in the national contest this summer.  The students beat out competitors from across Texas.

Josh Rogers earned a first place gold medal in Marine Service Technology.  As a first place winner he has advanced to the SkillsUSA national competition.  Michael Rhodes is his instructor and contest sponsor.

Additional winners at the state contest are Alex Folmar who earned a second place silver medal in Basic Health Skills and Grace Hamm won a third place bronze medal in Photography Technical.

SkillsUSA programs include local, state, and national competitions where students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills. The programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training and promote community service. More than 300,000 students and advisors join SkillsUSA annually, organized into more than 17,000 sections and 52 state and territorial associations.

The SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills conference will take place in Louisville, Kentucky, from June 20 to 25, 2016. For more information, visit http://www.skillsusa.org/events-training/national-leadership-and-skills-conference/.

Quick Tip Information

Quick Tip is a support system that allows students to communicate with school administrators. While the district already has many programs to help students deal with challenges such as bullying behaviors, stress, peer pressure, and family problems, Quick Tip helps break the code of silence often experienced by students because it allows them to report concerns to administrators anonymously.

Submit from App
SchoolMessenger Quick Tip app is available for both iOS (iTunes App Store) and Android devices (Google Play). Download SchoolMessenger Quick Tip App. When launching the app for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the school district code. The school district code is paristx.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a crisis line. In cases of emergency, the site will direct students to call 911!
